CAKE, CAKE, and more CAKE! Well…an attempt at cake.

So I was recently given a cake mold to make D20 shaped cakes. My fiancé gave it to me for our anniversary…hmm I wonder if he wanted me to make some cake….

So I tried it out when I had some guests visiting for a few days. I overfilled the molds the first time….it was a volcano of cake oozing out of the sides. I also over-browned just the bottom of the d20…which happened to be the 20. I then baked them at a lower setting for a longer time and the bottom was less brown but the sides were sticky.

I seriously COULD NOT WIN with this cake pan lol. I think I needed a stiffer cake mix or something. You couldn’t even see the numbers imbedded into the cake…except for the 20 on the bottom (go figure). It was a crazy time to bake them.

When I first started up my oven it began smoking… I swear I got smoke inhalation while I was in there. I hadn’t used it for about a month, because it gets to 85 degrees in my kitchen while using the oven during the summer.

Check out my latest video (a little over five minutes), for pictures and video of my progression through this experiment.

I thought about just doing melted chocolate or candy melts, the next time I do it and make candy filled D20 pinatas for our next game. 🙂

What do you guys recommend?

I am a nerd. There I said it, it's out in the open now. I love Star Trek, Star Wars, Firefly, Doctor Who...and the list goes on and on. I also LOVE to play Dungeons and Dragons. I am the Dungeon Master of a game I run once a month with my friends. This website, my Facebook group, and my YouTube channel, are all out there to show you how I design a campaign and build my dungeons. I usually use Hirst Art molds to create and build my dungeons, however, I have been using foam board and random other objects you might think are trash to create items for our games. Four four weekends a month, I work on the story, the design, and putting the game together. I love that my friends can leave their lives behind for a few hours a month and just immerse themselves in my game. This page will just be blog posts describing things that happen in the games, things that happen while working on my builds, and other thoughts on our dungeons and dragons adventures.
