Roll Initiative everyone!
I have a interesting idea for rolling initiative with my large group of players. Most campaigns have 4-5 player characters playing with the game master. I am the crazy GM that has 9 players at one time.
I have 2 fighters, a monk, 2 sorcerers, a cleric, a paladin, and a barbarian and a rouge. My sorcerers, cleric, and monk don’t get a lot of time playing against monsters because the fighters, paladin, and barbarian can get bigger shots in quicker and take out the monster faster. We usually sit in a circle with the lower players on my right and the hard hitters on my left. I have no idea why they sit in this pattern, or if it was planned, but it happened.
This would obviously be a house rule: I had an idea to have my players roll initiative and then have the higher player go first as usual. Then decide, based on the monsters stats, to either go around to the left or right of that person and allow my lower players to get in a few licks. For example, if i had my players fight another giant, which has higher stats, I could have my barbarian or fighters (who usually roll the highest) go first and then go to the right of them (which would allow the higher hitters to get the giant down a bit in hit points, then move to the lower players to kill it off. This way they get some more play time instead of just standing there waiting for the battle to be over.
