Day 6 Favorite Deity
Wow, this is a tough question. There are so many different Deities in Dungeons and Dragons. Each race has their own deity that they worship and each player character can have their own. Per the 3.5e Complete Divine book. In Chapter one it states that “A Deity isn’t just a name you write on your character sheet”. Chapter 5 gives a list of the Core Deities that are shown in the Players Handbook and gives you information their domain, portfolio (aspect of existence over which it has dominion), and favored weapons they choose.
Example Core Deities:
Now you could make up your own deity, such as The Flying Spaghetti Monster, that my monk favors. Or just make one up out of your own imagination. You will want to work that out with your DM of course, but it’s not limited to just the books. You can even pull their information from other additions of DND.
Ok, now that I have gotten the basic information down on Deities. I honestly don’t have a favorite of my own. When I was a player, I never took a deity as my own. Most players do not because they are not sure who to choose or why. I have a character with an interesting backstory with Bahamut as part of it, but as a player I think she choose a different god to follow as a paladin. I have ran a campaign where my players were going up against Nerull (the god of death) and it didn’t end well for anyone. He was an interesting character to play because he is so powerful, but I don’t think I would call him my favorite Deity.
Who’s your favorite? Tell me in the comments!
